Friday night's TechCrunch party was everything one might have expected, and more. More people, more space, more food + drink, more demos, more cars, more conversations, more of everything. Added bonus: a streaker. Sort of.
After I finally snagged a parking space, I sat for a moment and observed. There was this vibration. A slight rumble. A definite pulse.
700 or so geeks, venture capitalists, media folk and entrepreneurs all under one roof (or a roof and a big patio) might be explanation enough for many. But this was the same pulse I felt on my first trip up to Silicon Valley in early '06 - on my way to various unconferences, idea workshops, and yes, a TechCrunch party (a party, where in fact Waxxi was conceived).
While there were no such births this time (where I'm concerned, anyway), it was indeed a blast. It was equally as great to see some familiar faces: Jeremiah, Jeremy, Gabe and Mario as it was to meet others for the first time, in person: Jennifer Allen, Digg's Kevin Rose, ConceptShare's Scott Brooks and many more. Oh, and very sorry to have missed pressing flesh with one very cool Guy. Next time.
Thanks for another great one, Mike. Keep 'em coming.
