It seems fitting that my inaugural post refer to a big, fun, cool new project by Seth. I came to know Seth in the days (months? years?) of Purple Cow, and sort of became one myself.
Seth's latest, Squidoo, which is in open beta mode just today, is explained well by ClickZ's Kevin Newcomb:
What do you get when you cross About.com, Wikipedia, blogs and social networks? If you're author and online marketing guru Seth Godin, the answer is Squidoo -- a new company he launched to host Web pages written by experts in various topics. These pages, which he calls lenses, aim to highlight one person's view of a topic and hopefully distill the information into the perfect starting point for researching a given topic.
You can read the entire article here. And check out a lens or few here.
I've been diligently studying, practicing and helping others learn "today's Web" (or Web 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 - take your pick) technologies over the past several months. And I've been intimately involved in helping manage and grow global online communities for several years. I am extremely excited about the new face of tech, and how it is being simplified, and opened up. And, I am a huge evangelist of Social. Communities. Collaboration. Sharing.
So I'm very, very excited to watch Squidoo grow. And to be a part of it all.
Way to go, Seth. (again)
